“We beat ourselves up with workout routines, jobs, and stress of all kinds, so it’s OK to take a break, for just one hour, and give yourself the gift of calm. “I just want people to know that yoga isn’t just about a hot room or impossible postures - it’s also about giving your mind and body a break from the chaotic, technology-driven world we live in,” she added. Though starting a business amid a pandemic was scary, Stone noted she’s been pleasantly surprised by the steady growth and the willingness of the clients to stick with Purple Lotus through all of the ups and downs. “Additionally, we have clients who are brand new to the practice and others who have been practicing for years.” “We have some (clients) who come to every class they can get to and others who come once a week,” Stone said. To date, the studio boasts 135 clients and three additional instructors. The 450-square-foot, former drapery facility can accommodate up to 12 students per session. “So, I decided to open my own studio where I could teach my style of yoga when and how I wanted to.” “I have been teaching some form of fitness for over 20 years, from now strictly yoga, and I wanted a place that felt like a home, and I was hearing the same from a lot of the students I had,” said Stone, who works full time as an analyst for University Hospitals.
